Summer at Little Napoli: World Cup Nights, Car Week, and Big News from The Library

Summer has arrived in beautiful Carmel-by-the-Sea, bringing long sunny days, cool coastal evenings, and plenty of reasons to gather around the table. Here is what is new at Little Napoli this month, from the World Cup on the big screens to a change at The Library we have been waiting years to make.
World Cup Watch Parties at Bar Napoli
The world’s biggest sporting event comes to Bar Napoli. Cheer on your favorite team on our four large flat-screen TVs, with craft cocktails, beer and wine, a specialty bar menu, and the full Little Napoli menu.
A quick note on timing: we open at 4pm on weekdays and 11:30am on Saturday and Sunday, so a few matches air before we open. Here is where to catch this week’s quarterfinals:
- Thursday, July 9: France vs Morocco, 1:00 PM (before we open)
- Friday, July 10: Spain vs Belgium, 12:00 PM (before we open)
- Saturday, July 11: Norway vs England, 2:00 PM (watch with us)
- Saturday, July 11: Argentina vs Switzerland/Colombia winner, 6:00 PM (watch with us)
The semifinals are July 14 and 15, and the Final is Sunday, July 19 at 12:00 PM, right after we open, so come watch it with us. All times Pacific and subject to change.
Car Week Reservations
Car Week is less than forty days away, the busiest and, depending on who you ask, the most fun week of the year on the Peninsula. We lean all the way in: Ferraris parked out front, Italian music in the air, and a party atmosphere you simply will not find in Carmel-by-the-Sea the rest of the year.
Because it is our busiest week, reservations work a little differently. Three ways to join us:
- The Library, our private room, for a $1,000 deposit and room minimum. Reserve the Library
- Our outdoor courtyard, where your furry friend is welcome. Reserve the courtyard
- Our cozy indoor dining room. Reserve indoors
However you choose to celebrate the wildest week on the Peninsula, please drive safely and give yourself plenty of time, since traffic is heavy and parking can be tricky. And to our locals: we know Car Week is not everyone’s idea of a good time, but rather than hiding at home, come out for one night, raise a glass with us, and enjoy the madness. It is a lot more fun from a table at Little Napoli.
Big News from The Library
For the first time in years, we have dropped the room fee and the minimum, so our most special room is yours to book with nothing down. We would rather fill it with our favorite people than with a deposit. The Library welcomes parties of six to ten, and we seat only one party a night, so the evening belongs entirely to you: a long, unhurried, gloriously slow dinner, the way Italians intend it. Going to the Beach, Italian Style
For Italians, summertime means only one thing: la spiaggia (the beach). The Italian way of “lavorare sodo, divertirsi, mangiare bene” (work hard, play hard, eat well) is most evident in summer. After a hard day of school or work, Italians gather up their friends and head for the beach for a few hours of sun worshiping. Here in Carmel-by-the-Sea, we have created our own tradition, as my friends Rosie, Alana, Camilla, and Annalee borrow my Vespa and fly down to the beach (Vespa means wasp in Italian) to visit with friends, watch the surfers, and catch the sunset. After the sun goes down, they head back into town for la cena (dinner) at Little Napoli or Vesuvio, followed by the passeggiata (evening stroll). Italians really know how to live!
