These are the words spoken by Rich Pèpe, owner of Pèpe Winery, and Little Napoli Restaurant in Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Pèpe winery began when Rich heard that his friend Piero Antinori was going to sell some of the grapes from his Atlas Peak vineyard estate. With the help of Napa Valley winemaker Glenn Salva, Pèpe crafted a wine that would elegantly live up to its Atlas Peak pedigree. Pèpe Winery’s unique blend of Cabernet, Merlot, and Syrah is known as The Pèpe. About 500 cases of The Pèpe are produced each year. And Rich aims to produce the finest wine by incorporating Italian Heritage and Napa-style winemaking into one audacious mèlange.
